Join us in some amazing photos of high tides – and waves – in Ocean Beach, on Thursday, October 29th.

Albert C Elliott and South OB Girl both captured moments documenting this day of splashing waves. Elliott said, however, he’s seen bigger waves and higher tides.

The beach is gone. The beach at Bermuda is underwater. When the tide is not as high there is a sandy beach that people can walk on and sit on. South OB Girl

The street is drenched.  The high tides can splash the height of the bluff 30 feet into the street.  All photos at the viewing area at the end of Point Loma Ave.

  1. Wow. Amazing. Thanks for these hi tide photos.

Related: what’s the city’s long-term plans to prepare coastal neighborhoods for what might become a more frequent occurrence of these King tides?

  2. My Mom and Dad used to live in OB (1964 -1995) on Del Mar Ave. and my Dad used to scuba dive around there and also in La Jolla. I remember OB from the 60’s and 70’s also visited with my brother who in lived OB and I loved going to watch the ocean tides come in. Haven’t live in California for 35 yrs sure miss it. My Dad use to take a lot of pictures of the Ocean Beach Tides. Lots of good Memories. Both my Mom and Dad have pass on.
