About 4pm on Thursday, September 24th in the Midway District, reporter / photographer Dave Rice noticed a water show that he wanted to share with us.
The water show – a geyser in the Home Depot parking lot – was flooding the area. Another water main break.
These photos tell the story.
Is this yet another example of San Diego’s crumbling infrastructure – a crumbling and flooding that wastes our precious water?

That has to be a hundred foot geyser.
If not it was sure close…I was on the clock on a labor job so I couldn’t hang around too long to investigate, but it had been going for a while when I came out of the store from the looks of things (about 200 parking spaces were ankle-deep, plus the flooded intersection). No sign of a car crash, and I don’t ever recall seeing a hydrant or other above-ground water supplies right there, though I could be wrong.
The odd thing is that it was in the middle of a parking lot that must have been developed within the last 30 years or so…wouldn’t common sense have dictated replacement of any mains running across the property at that point? Heck, they just tore down the old Ralph’s when Ralph’s moved into the Mervyn’s building and built that Dick’s from the ground up (which is visible in the photo).
Broken water mains don’t usually behave like that.Sure someone didn’t strike oil? Dibs on the unattached fire hydrant.

So, is the culprit AMMONIA?
since AMMONIA has been added to the Chlorine & hazardous/ unnecessary (but profitable) Fluoride – used by many municipal water agencys – Plumbing FAILURES – once relatively rare – are now a DAILY occurrence around the Southland.
Water Agencys claim it isn’t their addition of their AMMONIA causing the failures – but before their Chlorine + AMMONIA = Cloramine – failures were infrequent. now – plumbers are busier then ever.
wonder what the AMMONIA does to our health & planet? hello Round-up, Agent Orange, etc, but now – EVERWHERE & touching EVERYONE!
By the time we REALLY know – it will be too late.
