OB newport n abbott aerialThe OB Rag posted a poll of our readers for a week inquiring into how they felt about some kind of “pedestrian controls” at the intersection of Newport Avenue and Abbott Street.  78 readers responded.

A clear majority – 58% – favor some kind of pedestrian controls – but a plurality of the overall total – 32% – feel controls are “okay” but do not support the installation of any stop lights.

Nearly a third of our respondents – 31% – are opposed to any controls. 4% were torn with mixed feelings, and 7% chose “other”.  9% of the overall total expressed support for the anti-authoritarian option, “Not another control – we’re controlled too much already.”

As in all of our polls, it is unscientific in that we cannot determine where respondents reside, and it is by choice, and people respond to it randomly.

Here’s the poll in full:

A good solution here is a mirror. It could be part of an art installation.
