We have received confirmation that Mayor Bob Filner plans on attending our Open House this Sunday, April 28th.
The OB Rag and The Green Store are sponsoring a joint “happening” promising food, drink, entertainment, and good vibes.
The Open House will be held from 1pm to 6pm at 4843 B Voltaire Street.
The Green Store is celebrating their 24th anniversary. And the OB Rag is celebrating our new, expanded office – inside the Green Store.
The Mayor is expected sometime between 2 and 3 pm at the event.
There is no set schedule or program for the event, however announcements will be made on the hour every hour. And when Mayor Filner arrives, he will be urged to say a few words.
Filner was endorsed for Mayor early in the Primary by the OB Rag. Plus during the election, he hands-down swept Ocean Beach, as he is very popular with the residents. Filner has also been a strong supporter of the environment, and The Green Store, of course, for nearly 2 and a half decades, has been the center for ecological resources.
The OB Rag will announce the winners of our recent T-shirt design contest, and award the prizes. The new T-shirts will be available. In addition, issues of the original OB Rag will also be available for a donation.

Oh! Are we having a “joint” party? Fun….See you there.
Judi, speaking of joints, I hope someone asks Filner, what happened to his campaign promise to leave the marijuana dispensaries alone? A few days ago, they were raided all over SD by the Feds. Once again, making it more difficult for patients to get their prescribed medicines. Obama did the same thing, with the same results. I don’t trust any of them..not like I ever did too much anyway.
Did you see our post about Filner being angry about this? He doesn’t have control over the Feds, too bad, though.
As you probably know, Mercy, Bob was a US Congressman for many years so is well versed in the mechanisms of federal government. I’m sure he could explain in detail that reigning in the ideologues in law enforcement is difficult, even for those elected to office on Capital Hill who we consider to be at the top of the power structure.
Most of them are good people but even the bad ones think they are doing the right thing-someone with this twisted mentality is called a “reprobate”.
They virtually do as they wish with little accountability even after the fact. Remember the Church Committee of the ’70’s, which uncovered outrageous activities by many different agencies, like COINTELPRO, and MK-ULTRA? For all it uncovered not one person was ever indicted, let alone tried, for their crimes- the hearings and report were surely just a dog and pony show to placate the public’s concerns and give Congress the appearance that they could do something about it.
