An Update from the OB Rag Editor’s Desk

Wanting to give everyone an update of what’s happening at the OB Rag, I first have to acknowledge the awesome power of the flu. It knocked me flat for most of a week, with headaches, fever, chills, and then left me with a head cold and deep cough.  My mind was gone for most of last week and so I apologize for not crawling to the keyboard and publishing anything. Some folks from San Diego Free Press – Doug Porter and Andy Cohen – did step in and threw material up for you to read on a couple of those days while I was missing.

But as you can see from today’s postings, I am back – still weak but without the nag of fever and headache or cough.

Despite my sickness, our readership still maintained itself, with between 1300 and 1600 readers a day coming in during the week.  So thank you dear readers for not giving up.

T-Shirt Design Contest Extended

Because of my setback, the deadline for our OB Rag T-shirt design contest has been extended for two weeks – until the Ides of March (March 15th).  We’ve already had numerous entries, but this will allow some additional time for those artists waiting in the shadows to get their ideas into color and substance.   Go here for the rules and details.

OB Rag Office to Soon Open

The other beeg news from the OB Rag is that we are opening an office at the Green Store, 4843 B Voltaire Street.  We’ve had an office there, but now we actually have our very own space. We already have a desk, chairs, file cabinet, and will be looking to staff it several days a week once the set up is finalized.

A former lawyer and current grassroots activist, I have been editing the Rag since Patty Jones and I launched it in Oct 2007. Way back during the Dinosaurs in 1970, I founded the original Ocean Beach People’s Rag - OB’s famous underground newspaper -, and then later during the early Eighties, published The Whole Damn Pie Shop, a progressive alternative to the Reader.
