5.4 on the earthquake scale – (downgraded from a 5.9) – 13 miles north of Borrego Springs.
Pat Abbott, PhD, a geologist interviewed by NBC local TV says this could be a brand new earthquake. On the San Jacinto Fault Zone – the Coyote Creek Fault.
I know Coyote Creek, and spent many sweaty hours out there in Coyote Canyon.
Obama told America that if we can win WWII and put a man on the moon, we can plug this leak and solve our dependency on fossil fuels.
But there’s a missing piece: the soldiers in WWII had the Pentagon and Neil Armstrong had NASA. What’s the man on the street supposed to do to solve the fossil fuel problem? Is it time for an organized, funded effort?

woo hoo!!!! that was fun……rocked & rolled & rattled us in the living room, yet my friend in the hallway 5′ away didn’t feel it at all. odd.
Yup, it still takes me about an hour before I don’t feel all discombobulated after a little shake up, lol
anyone else notice the atypical shaking, it hit quick, hard and sharp, for a short time, then lingered mildly for a long period.
usually it comes on mildly then increases in a linear fashion, rises to a peak then decreases similarly.

I caught thst too…felt it rolling on, then a couple hard rocks, then mellow quaking every few seconds for almost another minute.
Are you sure that mellow quaking wasn’t the liquor bottles rolling back and forth in the closet?

You don’t know how sick I am to find out the epicenter was in one of my fave spots in the desert: Coyote Canyon. Once you leave the plain of the Canyon and hike up into the adjoining canyons, like Cougar Canyon, you see why I have always feared in the many times I’ve been there to be there during an earthquake. The boulders, the rocks – all would move around and some would roll or bounce down the cliffs. I just hope they weren’t any campers or hikers out there. Normally it’s too hot to be there this time of year but with this cool weather, geez!
