More to Come on Bailey Backers’ Abusive Tactics

By Kate Callen

In the 24 hours since the Rag published “Bailey Backers Get Belligerent,” the story has received over 1,400 views and 13 comments.

That’s not unusual for a political article. What is unusual is that the Rag has been contacted by several readers with stories of being harassed because they posted on the Nextdoor forum.

Specifically, readers who are long-time Nextdoor members have told us that after posting their political views, many about D2 Council candidate Richard Bailey and/ or about his opponent Nicole Crosby, they received warnings from Nextdoor that their accounts were under review, and in many cases, their accounts were abruptly closed with no explanations.

Sadly, these readers have requested anonymity because they are afraid of further harassment. I am in the process of contacting them for more information.

If you were recently disciplined by Nextdoor, and you think it was in retaliation for expressing a political opinion, please email OBRagBlog@gmail.com, and I will be in touch. We promise anonymity. The Rag will publish follow-up coverage next week.

  1. They have blocked me and got their panties in a bunch because they didn’t like my Bailey memes. I then posted them on their page after the comments. Personally I’m not afraid of them. I want them to say it to my face!!

  2. My Nextdoor account has abruptly been suspended twice regarding Bailey comments, most recently until October 17th. My appeal was denied. I made reference to Trump in my post, stating that Bailey’s proposal to reduce City staff back to 2015 levels is overly simplistic and wrong, similar to approaches used by Trump on tariffs. I then contrasted Bailey with his opponent Nicole Crosby. I was one of many who made similar comments, some pro-Bailey. I don’t know if we were all treated similarly.

  3. Remember many on ND that live in the Fox bubble are short fused, closed-minded, and defensive of their cult. I’ve had a few comments disappear. Local political commentary seems more open than national and SCOTUS posts, with less cautionary boxes popping up. Thankfully my favorite one word retort, ‘outFOXed’, seems safe. :)
