From the League of Women Voters:
The League of Women Voters San Diego provides a moderator from outside the district. The moderator will state the rules and explain the format to the audience and candidates. Candidates’ names are chosen at random to determine the order in which they will give opening statements. Candidates are allowed two minutes to make opening statements.
The audience is invited to write questions on 3 x 5 cards. We have two people who are question screeners, they look over questions to ensure clarity and avoid duplication and each question is addressed to all candidates. They have one minute to answer the question and two minutes for a closing statement.
The league also provides a timekeeper and candidates are held to time limits.
We videotape the forum and put the recording on our website.
No campaign literature is allowed inside the venue.
Please reach out if you have any more questions. At this point we have six candidates (of the 13) who have confirmed their attendance. We anticipate a few may join at the last minute.
