There Are 16  17 No King Events Across San Diego County on the 18th — All Listed Here

The No Kings rally and march in San Diego will be on Saturday, October 18, 10am – 12pm at Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Hwy in San Diego, CA 92101.

Besides the 3 combined events in downtown San Diego, there’s No King events in Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, San Diego State University, El Cajon, Mira Mesa, Chula Vista, Carmel Valley, Rancho Bernardo, Ramona, San Marcos, Carlsbad, Vista and even Borrego Springs — (see details for all below).

In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings.

Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. “NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.

The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Other Events

There are several other events in San Diego on October 18.

Civic Center Plaza

At the same time as the main rally and march, there’s a rally at Civic Center Plaza, 1200 Third Ave, San Diego, CA 92101.

This is a march from San Diego Civic Center Plaza up Third Avenue to Ash Street and then downhill to Waterfront Park on city streets to join the other protest there. This will be exactly as we did on June 14th. It worked very well! (remember we had 69,000 people show up). Bigger crowds is what will give us the media coverage we all want. We’re shooting for 100,000 folks this time so please get all of your friends to come!

Ruocco Park for Parents and Kids — at 585 Harbor Lane

On Saturday, October 18, from 9:30 – 11:30am there’s a gathering at Ruocco Park.

This gathering is happening along the march route for the main rally and march starting at Waterfront Park and will serve to cheer on the main march and be part of the “count”. We are in solidarity with that event, and intend to provide an easy way for parents and caregivers with young children to participate by being an alternative location.

We will be elevating actions to take to fight for democracy, immigrants, BIPOC communities, and Palestinians, including fighting to get the City of San Diego ALPR (license plate reader) contract ended.

We’ll provide some fun activities for kids of all ages to participate in, including sign making, bubbles, coloring pages, chalk, temporary tats, music, and more. Plus, we’ll be near the Carousel and free kites in Seaport Village!

Come early to snag a paid parking spot; otherwise, take the trolley and get off at the Seaport Village stop.

We are planning our 2.0 protest — All corners of the city need to speak up! Last No Kings, we had 2200 estimated! Let’s try for double that amount this time around! This corner has made the news several time – we can do it again! And because we are also good neighbors – Keep bringing your shelf stable food items to share with the San Diego Food Bank! They are struggling more than normal.

It’s convenient to park and join us right at the corner! Bring your favorite sign and come on down! Can’t make it, but still looking for a way to be part of the resistance?

DRIVE BY AND BEEP!!! With your lights flashing at us ! I see so many of you got the memo – it’s absolutely KEY — I can’t tell you how it hypes the people on the streets up, and the car next to you gets in on the action … next thing you know – we have created a lot of noise and a lot of attention! It absolutely drowns out the few haters bold enough to give us a hard time! We outnumber them! So, drive by and BEEEEEEEP … flash those lights at us – I will know it’s OUR People the louder you get!

Feeling extra bold – roll your windows down and get LOUD with us … wave a sign out your window (if you are the passenger!!) … just make some NOISE!

*PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT engage with the hecklers! They are getting bolder. We literally ignore them – let them be the ones to escalate. Also, VIDEOTAPE it … have your cameras/videos ready to tape immediately.

See you all on the streets!

  1. Get this! INcluding the 3 combined events in downtown San Diego, there’s 16 No King events across San Diego County: in Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla, San Diego State University, El Cajon, Mira Mesa, Chula Vista, Carmel Valley, Rancho Bernardo, Ramona, San Marcos, Carlsbad and Vista — see details above.

  2. The “No Kings” marches sound patriotic — pro-democracy, anti-authoritarian, all the right words. But behind the branding, this isn’t a spontaneous citizens’ movement.

In San Diego, the main organizer Activist San Diego has a long history of coordinating highly ideological campaigns and framing politics as a perpetual struggle between “the people” and “the system.” It’s less about dialogue and more about keeping outrage alive.

Nationally, No Kings / 50501 is partnered with several extremist groups that don’t actually believe in reforming democracy- they want to replace it. Their public posts and partner statements call for dismantling American institutions, abolishing law enforcement, and rejecting representative government altogether.

So yes – protest Trump’s authoritarianism. He deserves it. But these marches aren’t how we defend democracy; they’re how we hollow it out. Real democracy isn’t a branding exercise — it’s local action, civic courage, and the ability to disagree without burning the system down.

    1. Activist SD is not the “main organizer” sorry to inform you. And what other “extremist groups” are there you don’t like? How would you defend democracy? And who exactly is “burning the system down”? Trick question: it’s not us. You do have quite a high bar for “spontaneous citizens’ movement.”

    2. Unfortunately we have to protest any fashion we can I was thinking a drone dropping leaflets saying free speech is in jeopardy what do u believe

    3. No need to worry, the anti MAGA movement comes no where near the threat to democracy MAHA poses every day of the week. We’re witnessing a fascist coup. Sow solidarity with those of us who still uphold the Constitution!

      MAGA=FASCISM

    4. Margaret… I actually checked the several partners, all 4, and their ‘About’ links..
      https://www.fiftyfifty.one > MORE > Partners
      https://pol-rev.com/about-us/ https://www.nvunheard.org/about/
https://www.voicesofflorida.org/mission https://www.buildtheresistance.org/ (scroll to ‘Who are we?’ ) The only one I may disagree with is Build The Resistance as I don’t believe boycotts are very effective. Democracy is always a work in progress. And the ‘extremist’ groups I am more concerned with are keeping ‘outrage alive’ through repression and brutality, racism and fascism. Start with the J6 rioters… Oathkeepers, QAnon, White Supremacists, Proud Boys, & Three Percenters. Very fine people?

    5. You’re absolutely incoherent. Are you a shill for little Mikey Johnson, who also tried to slander No Kings as an extremist group. So, there were 69,000 extremist out there just at the main San Diego protest? Grandmas, veterans, lawyers, doctors, construction workers, teachers, nurses, students, etc, etc. “Extremists,” eh? Sure, extremists in defense of liberty.
Shame on you. Stay home then.

    6. Well, this will be my fourth protest this year against the Trump Oligarchy. I always end up talking to many of the other people there and read the handmade signs that are for the overwhelming majority of them, original and personal thoughts made by the protestors. Not “all the right words” but what protestors see as the obvious signs of arrogant and self-serving clown canceling out the best things that make this the USA. Not the mass produced MAGA slogans seen at his rallies. Are you kidding me that protest is not how we defend the constitution? Protest often is the most effective way to defend the constitution and create change and is part of this country’s DNA and also, for now at least, protected by the constitution for good reason. Authoritarianism is not about negotiating and debate so it’s a bit naive to expect the Trump bunch to participate in it as long as they have the majority power in Congress. They have given us more than enough proof of that already. I’m also glad to see so many feisty young women protestors too but much fewer young men. Possibly Trump has convinced them all that equal rights for all will lead to neutering young males by the Dems. I’m 66 and still have my testicles as well as most of the other Dem males.

      1. Thank you, OBJohn. I’m 81, have been to several protests this year and don’t belong to any of the so-called extremist groups. Though, I am a member of the League of Women Voters of San Diego which will have a contingent present at Waterfront Park.

    7. In a time calling for us to get involved, actions like these are absolutely about local action and civic courage. While they might not be the only examples, they also matter. You may not support the idea of people struggling against the system, but clearly there are serious problems with our current system and we need to start building a new one.

    8. Oh dear Margaret-
Let’s address all of your accusations since they appear to come from misinformation or just plane made up nonsense.
NO KInGS is NOT Spontaneous and it certainly isn’t “branding”. Its name and theme reflect Trump’s own contention that he is a “king” and several posts by his administration that depict him as a monarch. And his comment that “those people that want to protest, they’re going to be met with very big force.” Which violates Americans Right to Protest.

And we are outraged! There is no dialogue with Trump and his supporters. It seems more that you don’t like protests and think they do nothing. And maybe in the beginning it seems that way. But women did not get the vote without Protesting!. Civil Rights did not become part of Americas landscape without Protests!
The countrywide AIDS disease was not finally recognized by the Reagan Admin., doctors, hospitals, and healthcare with Protests. Our country has held Protests since 1776. This is NOT Spontaneous- it’s a call to action.
So per your statement about these protests being led by “extremist group”- WHO? You name no names to that accusation.
Here is a small list of organizers:
The No Kings protests were organized by Indivisible and other progressive organizations as part of a coalition of more than 200 groups, including:
      50501, the Third Act Movement,
      American Federation of Teachers,
      Social Security Works,
Communications Workers of America, American Civil Liberties Union,
Public Citizen and MoveOn. Just to name a few in America.
Indivisible Abroad, the collective of recognized Indivisible international chapters for Americans abroad, primarily led international organizing for No Kings / No Tyrants events around the world. Democrats Abroad also organized solidarity protests internationally in response. Organizers estimated that more than five million people participated in more than 2,100 cities and towns across the country, according to statements by the American Civil Liberties Union, a co-sponsor of the protests.

So tell us how you believe those millions of people- teachers, veterans, retired individuals, children, grocery workers, homeworkers, mechanics, painters, college kids and allllll those people could be “extremists” as you claim. I’m not, my 83 year old father who is marching is not, my brothers who are a bartender and teacher are not, and my minister is definitely not!
But it goes beyond America- did you know that?? More protests took place in the U.S. territories of Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands, and in 20 foreign countries; including Canada, Japan, Mexico, Ireland, the United Kingdom and in Europe. The alternate “Dictators” or “Tyrants” titles were favored over “Kings”. So are alllll of those millions of people also extremists?? In the Czech Republic, about 200 people gathered in Prague’s Jan Palach Square. The “No Tyrants” protest was organized by Democrats Abroad and the International Unitarian Church of Prague. The Unitarian Church is the farthest from extreme.
So you go on thinking that the voice of the people makes no difference- but my 83 year old father, my young nephew and I will be marching. As will American and other nations around the world to show a
unified resistance to the system that privileges power and profit over humanity.

  3. Frank thank you so much for listing all the different No Kings protests happening around San Diego county on Saturday.

I have been getting to as many of the protests this year as I can along with the housing issues facing our city.

NOTE: This No Kings is suppose to be bigger than the last one so be aware if you do the waterfront one even if you get someone to drop you off they may not even get close and you will have to walk quite a ways so definitely take the trolley. Yes I know it will be crowded too but they are scheduling more just for this event.
    .

  4. Re: “Real democracy isn’t a branding exercise — it’s local action, civic courage, and the ability to disagree without burning the system down.”

And yet, “Give me liberty or give me death” was branding. Bunker Hill was local action. The Declaration of Independence took immense civic courage. And the American Revolution was all about burning the system down.

Too many people believing that winning a democracy is a one-and-done thing and that all you have to do to get along is to go along is what got us this hollowed-out democracy. Enough already!

  5. Please be courteous to the passengers-mostly senior- who will be disembarking and boarding the cruise ship at the pier during the event. Most have mobility issues and a short period to reach the airport.

    1. Excellent reminder. However, I’m pretty sure Harbor Dr. will be shut down from, at least, Hawthorn to Ash St. Taxis etc should still be able to go up Broadway to Pacific Highway although the Pacific Hwy intersection with Ash St. may have delays during the march.
