A friend of mine, trying to be funny, said to me yesterday, “I thought you had stopped writing fictional pieces. It took me a minute to realize he was talking about my article a few days ago of my perception of the Trump presidency. I told him I wished it were fiction, but as I saw the ways were happening it was a nightmare of nonfiction. So….here we go again.
I guess the first thing that created havoc in my body was the story that Trump and his shadow Musk want to eliminate Social Security. I’m on Social Security. And no, I do not get my deceased husbands social security. (It’s kind of funny that he got $622 a month from the Teachers Association and $101 from Social Security when he died.) Granted he was an old man – born in 1927 and retired in 1960.) Baby sitters were earning 50 cents an hour!
When I accepted a job with Bangor, Maine, Job Corps, I took my money out of the Teacher’s retirement in California as a down payment on a house in Maine. I truly did not think that we would ever return to California, even though we still had our house in San Diego. I was wrong, because we moved from Maine to Treasure Island, when I was an administrator for Job Corps also. I tried to pay back the monies I took from my California Teachers pension, but at the time the payback amount of 18% – and was just too much money for what I had borrowed. Job Corps was Social Security at retirement, and no where what I had made as a teacher, administrator, director, etc. in the school system.
So basically, the only viable income I have in this later life is what I get from Social Security, which, in case anyone forgot, is my money anyway. I earned it and SS used it until I needed it.
Yes, I did a few other things to earn money – authoring 4 books – Making an selling jam from my 14 fruit trees – lecturing at various educational institutions, but, what IF, just WHAT IF Social Security ceases to exist. What would I do to support myself? What would the millions of others that are on Social Security do for monies? Go homeless? Die? Half of those on SS have physical problems and could not longer work or even go to a job. I keep listening for Congress to protest, but besides losing their testicles, I think they lost their vocal chords too. Am I nervous? Am I scared? You bet I am.
The second piece of news late last night was the “takeover” of the records of the IRS. The takeover suggested by Musk who has no business even being in Washington except that he can buy his way into anything. And I think when Trump sees him, he doesn’t see a person, be sees thousand dollar bills. What right does anyone have to see my records? And particularly these young people that really don’t even need to shave on a daily basis. What are they going to do with the information? People that have run the offices of Social Security and the IRS are quitting. They know it’s wrong, but again, the “balless” individuals that are running the country right now are either scared that Trump might fire them, of even more embarrassing, bring them out in public to show a important body part is missing.
And Thirdly, this message from 30 minutes ago – “a Federal Judge declined to stop Musk and the White House DOGE from accessing data systems at 7 federal agencies and firing or putting their employees on leave! Wonder what the Federal Judge will find in his pay check over the 47 months left of this term of office? Who the hell is Musk and why is he allowed to do these horrible sleuthing measures? He was appointed by a felon; he was not elected by anyone, and he is creating havoc for the entire country. Remember the people without testicles? What will they not have now? Penis or Vaginal tracks?
They are urinating on the people of American and are afraid to put on diapers! If this isn’t a fiasco right in front of the American people I am not sure what it would be. Democrats! I don’t hear your yells. What in the hell is wrong with you. Does Trump have you so scared that you are afraid to say “no”? The lawsuits that are being filed are too small; not really tackling the problems; and more and more of our democracy it being lost. I have been a Democrat; a Republican and an Independent in my many voting years. I am also embarrassed to say that I am a democrat for this past election. And just a little note for Californians – be careful of the two Republicans that say they are going to run for Governor. You better start digging outhouses if they win.
In the past 30 minutes I have heard three different contentious sellouts by Trump. – And probably Musk to. I certainly didn’t like my inactivity while learning how to survive with one eye; but I’m not sure this activity of writing daily, hourly, etc. is also what I need. But I am just so angry!
What may be a threat to Social Security is all the fraud, waste and abuse that has been occurring for decades. Musk, et al are cleaning it up to save the government billions of dollars that will ultimately be appropriately spent. People over 110 years old and known to be deceased getting social security? Where are the checks going? Your anger is misplaced. Who perpetuated the fraud? Ditto for every other federal agency. Ae you going to refuse the remittance from the federal government that President Trump and Musk are suggesting as a give-back to the taxpayers from billion-dollar savings reaped from uncovering fraud? Get a grip.
C Lambert — we posted your comment to give you an answer, and neither you nor Trump/ Musk have ANY evidence of this so-called ” fraud, waste and abuse that has been occurring for decades,” and you all want to do is tear up a system for seniors. You’re probably not that old and don’t understand what social security does. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF FRAUD. So STFU and learn how to become a genuine patriot. We in America don’t have or want a king.
What a numbskull! Does this ‘c lambert’ character actually think there is going to be a ‘remittance check’ coming out of the White House sometime soon?
No chance of that! Trump is too busy playing golf (now at 17% of the first month of presidential ‘working hours’) and spending millions of tax dollars at these stupid ‘sporting events’ photo ops he’s done.
Has he even scraped the remaining goo off his foot from stepping on the faces of the complete morons who voted for him yet? You know, those extras that weren’t hired for the movie Idiocracy? Have to do that before he signs those checks I would think as he shouldn’t be making the White House rugs dirty. Taxpayers have to pay to clean them!

Social Security is going bye-bye, that is why the MAGA-GOP is pushing the ‘fraud’ meme so hard. It’s to justify stealing it.
As are SNAP/food stamps and anything else the wealthy don’t care for. And if you are upset about it, too bad for you. And if you are a Democrat, too bad for you even more because your ‘party’ has been completely compromised since Bill Clinton took it over and turned it into the party of Reagan-Lite.
