Early Thursday morning, December 5, a fire broke out in a two-story apartment on the 5000 block of Narragansett in OB and 2 people had to be hospitalized with at least one of them suffering burn-related injuries.
Responding firefighters helped numerous residents evacuate the fire that erupted just before 12:30 a.m, 10News reported, but two people were reportedly trapped inside and had to be rescued and rushed to the hospital.
It took crews about 30 minutes to control the fire.
Fire officials and the Metro Arson Strike Team are investigating the cause of the fire.

Fox5 reports only 1 person was rescued, but 2 went to the hospital and “Officials said the fire was limited to the front of the apartment with significant smoke damage in a neighboring unit. A total of two residents were displaced as a result of the blaze. ”

A young man, Noah Flaherty, died from the fire, and there’s been a GoFundMe page set up for him.
An apartment fire on Dec. 5 just after midnight in Ocean Beach left 24-year-old Noah Rawson with injuries so severe he died in the hospital the next day.
His family flew back to San Diego to honor his memory, saying a visit to the beach in December is a trip they never got to take.
“He was my favorite person,” Keele Burgin, Noah’s mom, said. “I think he was a lot of people’s favorite person.”

As she watched the waves with Noah’s father, Matt Rawson, they remember everything they loved about him.
“He just lived. He was like, ‘Mom, I’m going to Hawaii. Mom, I’m gonna learn how to surf.’ They’re big on kite surfing,” Burgin recalled.
