  1. Thx for spreading the word about this Larry Turner fundraiser. I do think he’s a viable alternative to our current mayor, and thank Larry and his supporters for giving those of us who are disappointed (to say the least) with the mayor’s performance a credible alternative in November.

    1. So, Paul, why do you think the Democratic establishment didn’t run a viable candidate against Gloria in the beginning?

  2. The Mayor controls the local Democrat party and its money, and no viable Democrat would dare run against him. That’s a big frustration for many of us who think Raul Campillo, Marni von Wilpert, Scott Peters, etc, etc would do a better job, but are content to wait their turn rather than committing political suicide by challenging the mayor.

    1. Unfortunately, you’re probably right — and they’re all giving Democrats a bad name. There is an un-named clique from the mayor’s office all the way to Sacramento (thinking Atkins here) that has controlled local politics for years now.

    1. I know you’re saying that sarcastically cuz you believe we’re all just a bunch of anti-Democrats because we detest the current Democratic leadership of the city. Not true, dear sir. Stein is not a good statesperson.

    1. I think the VOSD made a big deal of Turner’s “call” for San Diego’s bankruptcy. Is that NOT what he said?? Please elaborate.

  3. I’ve got a prominent bankruptcy attorney who swears that this City will never get out of our trouble without bankruptcy. You know, I want to try as best we can to not do that…” He then talks about hard decisions which are hard budget decisions, not the decision to declare bankruptcy

    1. Thanks Chris S – Just to be clear, Turner made that statement which begins “I’ve got a prominent ….”, yes? And then Scott — who just got back from vacation, I understand — appears to put words into Turner’s mouth. Is this your interpretation?

  4. Scott wrote,

We haven’t heard the b-word in a while in San Diego but it’s back: Mayoral candidate Larry Turner, a city of San Diego police officer, wants the city to consider going through bankruptcy and wants future city employees, including public safety personnel, to get smaller guaranteed pension benefits.
