If you missed the excitement of the Eclipse or passed on the Carlsbad flowers this season. Or if you didn’t catch the Women’s National basketball semi-finals, with Caitlin Clark awing the country with record-breaking 3-point shots, don’t despair.
There is still a bit of wonder. Butterflies.
Butterflies! They taste with their feet and have a suction tube for a mouth. Their eyes have thousands of lenses and see flowers in ultraviolet light. During their lives, each butterfly transforms from caterpillar to pupa to fluttering adult.

Each spring for just a few weeks, the San Diego Safari Park’s Hidden Jungle becomes a habitat for thousands of colorful butterflies. Inside this rainforest greenhouse. Butterfly Jungle Safari participants can see—and stroll among—many varieties of butterflies.
Preparation for this event starts months in advance. The butterflies are imported, while they’re still pupae, from butterfly farms in Central and South America.
Most adult butterflies live less than a month.
The colors, the delicacy, the artful recreation of a jungle habitat (and controlled small viewings) will amaze.

But, hurry, the current exhibition ends May 12th . Then go search for more wonders.

Fabulous colors and a great exhibit. Time is short to visit. City schools should pay for field trips!
