The NY Times recently reported that while departing Turkey after the NATO summit last month, President Donald Trump hid in an airport catering container and was taken to a military jet for a secret flight out of the country. The ruse involved Trump appearing to get on Air Force One but then secretly evacuated via an opposite side exit where he hid inside an airport catering container.
This container was subsequently transported by a catering truck to the military jet. According to the NY Times account, this action was taken in response to a credible threat posed by an Iranian terrorist cell armed with shoulder fired missiles. Most of the staffers and reporters on Air Force One were not notified of the president’s emergency evacuation or the threat, and continued the flight as unsuspecting passengers.
On a related note, Variety magazine reports Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey has grossed $1.1 billion worldwide within a month of its July 17, 2026. The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as the Greek king Odysseus. The movie re-creates the famous Trojan Horse deception, which resulted in the destruction of Troy. The kingdom once existed in what is now modern day Turkey
As with the Trojan horse deception, President Trump’s decoy maneuver that evacuated him out of Turkey is worthy of a poem that commemorates and records this unique moment in warrior history.
Airport Catering Containers Answer the Call
We marvel as high tech innovations
dominate the battlefield; generals
forced to rapidly adapt strategies
and tactics in pursuit of victory.
Still, the most expensive bomb not always
apropos. Look as lethal drones appear
from the sky like little insects swarming
over a leafy garden or playground.
They represent a combination of
latest engineering feats and cheaper,
most cost-effective combat approaches
allowing much smaller nations to wage
prolonged conflict against well-armed giants.
Such bold cleverness in the combat zone!
Yet, we’ve seen it all before. Been around
since the days of sneaky Trojan horses.
Stealth and cunning are worth their weight in gold.
So who in their right mind can dare question
the tactical deployment of airport
catering containers as anything
but a warrior ethos exemplar?
If hesitant to accept this concept,
don’t imagine a president scurrying
away in fear of reprisal, hiding
from the evil enemy’s vengeful wrath,
finding refuge within a metal box.
Instead, envision tough guy Matt Damon
pacing inside, full of testosterone,
at levels Pete Hegseth demands for all.
Put a Hollywood spin on this odd dodge –
stage action hero commander-in-chief
right next to the vegetarian trays,
alongside Biscoff cookies and beer cans.
Allow Christoper Nolan to direct.
Then airport catering containers can
finally assume their proud, rightful place
in the annals of warfare history.
