Record Number of Candidates Running

There’s a record 18 candidates running for the Peninsula Community Planning Board – and they will all be introduced at a Candidate Forum being held tonight, Thursday March 7.

It will held starting at 6:00pm at the Point Loma Library, 3701 Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92107.

There are seven open seats, with five the regular yearly openings. One is to fill the rest of Margaret Virissimo’s term, with one year remaining. The last one is to fill the term of Mick Moore who was removed after one year because he missed four meetings in a year, leaving two years of his term to fill.

It terms of candidates, there is bloc from the Park Point Loma group that is fighting the Famosa Canyon development. Three incumbents are running, Brad Herrin, Joe Holasek, and the current chair Robert Goldyn. Other candidates include Margaret Virissimo, Geoff Page, Jarvis Ross, Paul Webb who brought expertise regarding the airport when he served. The other is former member Jon Linney – as well as a number of new faces.

It should be an interesting forum.

The Board election is March 21, 2019 from 4 to 8pm.

Candidate applications can be found here.

Since this was posted, the PCPB received two more applications. One is from a former long time board member, Paul Webb who brought expertise regarding the airport when he served. The other is former member Jon Linney who resigned when he was not re-elected chair last year.
