The Ocean Beach Town Council raised a total of $9,600 at its annual Christmas Auction last Thursday night. The event, held at the Sunshine Company, was a smashing success with the usual auctioneers plying the crowd for a good cause.

The amount raised included $8,600 raised for the OBTC annual’s OB Holiday Food and Toy Drive – plus another $1,500 raised to support the firefighters and others at the Camp Fire up in northern California – $500 of which came from the OB Woman’s Club. (The total overall figure may be higher or lower, as several board members told this reporter on Saturday at the parade, as some donors may have come in over the weekend.)

The Council wishes to thank all the generous Obceans who came out to support their Holiday Auction – even on a rainy night. They also want to issue a special thank you to our board members Gio Ingolia and Jill Kent, for co-chairing the auction. And the successful event couldn’t have been possible without the support of local businesses, so the OBTC wants to thank them including the host Sunshine Company Saloon.

The funds went to the North Valley Community Fire Relief Fund.

Correction: The total dollar amount raised at this year’s OB Holiday Auction was $8300, which includes $1000 earmarked for fire relief via raffle sales and Kayla Fleming’s very generous donation of her half of the 50/50 raffle winnings.
So:
* $7300 raised toward all holiday events: OB Tree, OB Holiday Parade, and OB Food & Toy Drive.
• $1000 of the $8300 was for the North Valley Community Foundation, https://www.nvcf.org/, to help victims of the Camp Fire.

  1. Mike James left this comment at OB Rag facebook: “One thing that needs to be shared was the generosity of Gavin Fleming and his wife Kayla. They won over $400 in the 50/50 raffle held on behalf of the victims of the Camp Fire. They immediately donated their winnings back to the cause. Gavin is the Manager of the Inn at Sunset Cliffs as well one of my fellow auctioneers. Another reason I love O.B”
