Apparently, after all the dust-up, the Sunset Cliffs Street Fair is still on for Saturday, September 1. Although, it will scaled back, according to local writer, Judi Curry.

Judi sent us the following:

There have been many rumors about this event.  I have talked to the City Planners, Officer Lavelle, Richard Aguirre, and others and here is what I found:

Since this is a “first time event” it has been scaled down from the original plan.  Sunset Cliffs Blvd. will not be closed off; only the 4700 block of Pt. Loma Avenue will be closed from Ebers to the east side of Sunset Cliffs.

There will be one stage and it will feature a variety of bands and musicians throughout the day.  The plans for a beer garden have been discontinued, and more emphasis will be placed on “all age” visitors.

There are approximately 100 vendors that will be participating, and a variety of handcrafted articles, food venues, street paintings, and games will be offered.

A permit has been issued for the Street Fair by both the City and the Health Department and the Fire Department.

The hours have also been scaled down to opening at 10:00am and closing at 6:00pm.

UPDATE – Sunset Cliffs Block Party

Sunset Cliffs is one of the most visited areas of San Diego. If things continue the way they are now, the Cliffs will not be here in 50 years. The members of the Sunset Cliffs Merchant Association and the “Garbage Beach Club” are trying to preserve the area so that others can enjoy it for years to come.  The support that they receive from attending this Street Fair will aid in the preservation of the area.

Probably pocket lining. where is the non Profit status and why do shady in his tactics of not communicating with merchants affected prior to the event. your raising money on protecting the cliffs? . What’s your plan ? what’s going to be accomplished with the $$? Where the transparency ? Also today as he was posting no parking signs on the street client asked what are those for . he told a client he hopes the business F-ing fails. Nice! Why would anyone one want to represented by someone that cannot truly be pro business, community and transparent . Shady if you ask me . If your do righteous and well intended he should have called a meeting with local businesses affected and actually be considerate of others, a compromise with out friction may have resulted in stead we got nada! I guess it’s to much to ask in this all about me world.
