‘Follow That Sign’ OB

Actual sign sign discovered somewhere in Ocean Beach. “Follow that dream” – very appropriate. It’s anonymous street art.

There’s apparently a bunch of artists, or different networks of artists (or maybe just one) who are teasing OB with their anonymous street art. And this latest street sign – very “professionally” crafted and quietly installed – makes for great art. (Thank you – whomever you are. )

They have struck before. Our friend Joaquin Antique found one during his “OB Walkabouts”.  Check out this “Be Grateful”

Joaquin also found this:

OB has always had its anonymous street art. Here’s an earlier one:

Stenciled street art, of course, has a long and favored reputation and OB has its corner on some of it. Back in the 1970s, someone stenciled an image of Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara in the middle of the giant “S” at the Safeway market (where CVS stands currently); that Che remained for years.

A former lawyer and current grassroots activist, I have been editing the Rag since Patty Jones and I launched it in Oct 2007. Way back during the Dinosaurs in 1970, I founded the original Ocean Beach People’s Rag - OB’s famous underground newspaper -, and then later during the early Eighties, published The Whole Damn Pie Shop, a progressive alternative to the Reader.
