5,000 San Diegans Mobilize for People’s Climate March: Photo Gallery

This reporter stood on the sidewalk and observed the entire Climate March in downtown San Diego today, Saturday, April 29th.

At least 5,000 people attended the rally, the one-mile loop of a march and then a second rally at the County Administration Building.

Here are the people and their wonderful signs:

I love this sign: “Respect existence or Expect Resistance.”

This sign is a reference to the plans to store San Onofre nuke waste right there next to the beach.

Once the marchers returned to the Water Park, they encircled a drum circle.
A former lawyer and current grassroots activist, I have been editing the Rag since Patty Jones and I launched it in Oct 2007. Way back during the Dinosaurs in 1970, I founded the original Ocean Beach People’s Rag - OB’s famous underground newspaper -, and then later during the early Eighties, published The Whole Damn Pie Shop, a progressive alternative to the Reader.

  1. Great cause, great crowd, wonderful signs, reason to hope.
In stark contrast to your powerful story today about regular tenants being evicted from their homes in favor of high-roller renters who then put the properties up for rolling short-term vacation rent.
Those who oppose this shocking exploitation of neighbors and neighborhoods need
to organize to put the screws on City Council and the Mayor now. Apply the principles of Trump-Era Resistance to this gig-economy destruction of “community.”
