Little girl reading pile of books. Isolated.

The book drive is part of a program just passed by the City Council on April 19th – where, according to a release from Councilwoman Zapf’s office, “the San Diego City Council joined Councilmember Zapf in proclaiming Reading Awareness Month in the City of San Diego. As part of the Proclamation, Councilmember Lorie Zapf has sponsored a Summer Reading Book Drive…”

The Ocean Beach Friends of the Library, of course, are very appreciative of this support – and they ask that people please donate new or gently used children’s books- and the bin at OB has been delivered. They and Zapf’s office ask everyone to help spread the word and encourage OBceans and Point Lomans  to help increase the book supply and reading levels among our youth and at our libraries.
