OB Rag is Model for Coverage of Neglected Neighborhoods

The San Diego Free Press – which is about to celebrate its first year anniversary June 4th – has for the last three to four months been using the OB Rag as its model in its coverage of different communities around San Diego.

How the Rag has become the online news, forum and platform resource for Ocean Beach, is what the SD Free Press aims to do for other stereotyped and ignored neighborhoods throughout the City – and the County as well – neighborhoods that have been mistreated by the mainstream and corporate media in this town.

The OB Rag “birthed” the Free Press last year – after we went through a couple of  years of discussion – to provide a county-wide place for  “progressive views and neighborhood news”.  One of  the goals of the new website is to focus and target these neglected communities, and provide a forum for that neighborhood’s issues and problems, its heroes and resources, its history, restaurants, cultural enclaves as well as it’s other points of interest.

So, all during this past month of May, the Free Press has targeted the community of Golden Hill.
