If you thought the recent crackdowns of Occupy encampments across the country was more than a coincidence, there is a good chance you were right. Oakland Mayor Jean Quan admits to talking to other cities before the massive coast-to-coast evictions .
In an interview this morning with the BBC, Mayor Quan reveals that she spoke with officials from other cities over the phone before a Monday morning raid that led to the eviction of hundreds of Occupy Oakland protesters and the arrests of many.
“I was recently on a conference call with 18 cities across the country who had the same situation,” says Quan, who goes on to claim that the movement, in her opinion, had transition from a political movement to one marred by anarchists.
“What had started as a political movement and a political encampment ended up being an encampment that was no longer in control of the people who started them,” says the mayor. Perhaps the greatest blow to her city’s own Occupy Oakland movement, however, came after repeated raids from local law enforcement agencies — often more than a dozen area forces working in conjunction — to infiltrate demonstrations and beat and arrest protesters.

Coordinated effort, or conspiracy in a continuing criminal enterprise. If even one is found guilty of violating our civil rights they should all be charged together. That is my opinion anyway.
I agree. But things are different for the 1%.
At the start of Occupy Wall Street, people pointed to the “Arab Spring” and Tahrir Square as inspiration. Tahrir Square was not held by the movement WITHOUT A FIGHT. It is certainly true that peaceful protests were the starting point for Arab Spring actions. It is also certainly true that people fought back when it became obvious that their peaceful expression was not respected by the Corporate puppets in their part of the world. Washington, DC is full of these Corporate puppets. Cities everywhere have more Corporate puppets in charge.
If the 1% want to teach us all that we do NOT live in any kind of democracy, and that they will use force to shut us up, we had all better get busy thinking about new ways to get the “1%” off our backs.
Now would be a good time for the press,as in mainstream, to redeem themselves in the eyes of the public. After the weapons of mass distruction and the Iraq/Bin Laden lies.The #ows movement covered truthfully and boldly would go a long way for those guys to regain the public trust. The general public could use some one in their corner right about now. It’s hard for me to imagine how scary it must be for Joe Citizen sitting there with no job,part-time job or worse, watching his home value slide into the abyss and his 401k pilfered. 55 or 60 years old is not your prime production years, job wise anyway. Folks of this age group should probably develop an alternative support plan as they ain’t hiring in our age group.At least some one telling us the truth would let us know we are not totally alone. Maybe an expose’ uncovering the collussion among these Mayors and other bad actors could be a step in the right direction.
