As Congressmember Bob Filner prepares for the next leg of his political career, a potential run for San Diego mayor, we thought it time to tie off one of the loose ends of his last campaign.

On election night, Filner was accosted by an angry mob of Tea Party supporters of his Republican opponent, Nick Popaditch. Among them was one self-avowed white supremacist who later posted a YouTube video of the night, combining footage of the fracas with violent imagery and a call for armed revolution.  [Editor: the OB Rag also covered this as well as the avoidance of the event by mainstream media, go here and here.]

CityBeat reported extensively on the neo-Nazi, whom we only knew by his online handle, Aurick the Great White Elf. The story briefly went national after he praised Jared Lee Loughner, the accused Jan. 8 Tucson shooter, on a white-nationalist message board. Filner used the incident as evidence to tie extremist elements to the Tea Party.
