No Swimming At San Diego’s Ocean Beach As Sewage Spill Flows Into San Diego River From Santee

The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health has posted warning signs to keep people out of the water at Ocean Beach after an estimated 1.2 million gallon sewage spill occurred Wednesday in Santee flowed into the San Diego River.
County crews posted signs warning of sewage contamination at Ocean Beach from the San Diego River mouth to the Ocean Beach Pier. The signs and closure will remain in place until water tests confirm that the water is safe for recreational use.
Flooding at a sewage pump station at 9210 Carlton Oaks Drive in Santee created the sewage spill, which began at 5:55 a.m. Dec. 22 and continued until 2 a.m. Dec. 23. All of the sewage flowed into the San Diego River.
The County said wastewater crews from the Padre Dam Municipal Water District have bypassed the sewage system with pumps.

i’m sure you heard that qualcom stadium was flooded – it was all over the news. but did the stadium get any of the santee sewage? does anyone know how the stadium smelled during the game?
Why do they consider it a spill if it happens evertime it rains? Would this not be dumping sewage into the ocean do to the terrible infrastructure?
