Is County Registrar Deborah Seiler trying (again) to discourage voters?

Deborah Seiler - San Diego County Registrar of Voters.

San Diego County Registrar of Voters Deborah Seiler has sent out a letter to potential San Diego County voters that actually could discourage some people from voting.  This is the same Deborah Seiler who used to work for Diebold – the corporation that made faulty voting machines. (Diebold has since changed its name to Premier – presumably to get away from all the adverse PR.)

The San Diego City Beat is running a disturbing story this week about the letter that Seiler’s office has sent out to people who have registered to vote.

This is the same Seiler who was hired for some reason by the County to oversee our elections. Two years ago, we ran a post that described Diebold’s intrusion into our democracy (or what’s left of it):

DIEBOLD Company CEO, Wally O’Dell, and longtime Diebold Director and Chairman “Tim” Timken, are steadfast Republican loyalists and major contributors to Republican candidates, including George W. Bush. Timken’s company and family have contributed over a million dollars to the GOP.

Diebold is publicly traded and listed on the New York Stock Exchange as ‘DBD’. The Diebold Company itself earns more revenue as a Military Defense Contractor than in the manufacture and sales of voting equipment. But you have to scrutinize their website to learn this information. The more one familiarizes oneself with voting equipment vendors…the more defense contractors and intelligence connections seems to surface.

This is the same Registrar of Voters that was accused by the County Democratic Party last April of conspiring with Republicans to mail partisan campaign material at taxpayers’ expense with official sample ballots. (See here.)

Registrar of voters 2008

Inside the County Registrar of Voters, October 2008.

Here is the start of the City Beat article by our friend Dave Maass:

Thousands of San Diego County residents who downloaded voter forms from the California Secretary of State’s website are receiving letters bearing mixed messages about the status of their registrations.

In the letters, the San Diego County Registrar of Voters’ office tells voters that their registrations have not been fully processed due to “missing birth place” on their paperwork.

“This form is being sent to you because your original affidavit of registration was not properly completed,” the letter says. “Before we can complete the process of your Affidavit of Registration, we must have additional information from you.”

The letter is incorrect.

It’s a dirty game “they” play. Each and everyday. More people on the fringes falling by the way. And “We the People” go on about our lives while such nasty games are in play. Hopefully we’ll wake up some day.

Make sure you read the City Beat article – what happened is a little confusing, but still is disturbing.

Absolutely, this election was bought and paid for.

I just dont believe these results at all. I dont believe for a second that Horn and Roberts won so easily when they are extremely unpopular incumbants. There is no worse handicap this election season than being an incumbant and I dont buy that the County Board of Sups is continually again and again re-elected when the registrar of voters deborah seiler is their employee and is dependent on them for her job.

I also dont believe that 70% of voters voted to allow continued tract home development along route 56 in a proposition placed on the ballot by Pardee homes. Come on people. Wake up.

PS You guys ROCK for reporting this. Please dont stop. I have been writing about it in the SD Reader. We have got to get people to wake up!!!! it is INSANE that this woman is completely and totally in charge of our Democracy!!!

I was at a bar 2 weeks ago on a Sunday night and there was a booth set up to convince people to become mail-in voters. There were 2 people going around with clipboards, literally shoving the clipboards in front of people at the bar who were trying to enjoy their cocktails or dinner and aggressively strong-arming them into changing their voter status PERMANENTLY to mail-in.

Here is another recent article in the Wall Street Journal stating that the corruption in Bell California began with mail-in “voter fraud”.

as far as mail-ins they are EASY to dump. Deborah Seiler reviews each ballot to verify if your signature on the ballot matches the signature they received when you registered. If she doesnt like your “signature” she can throw your ballot in the trash. There are NO checks and balances. We are at her mercy.

PS everytime I try and post a comment on the Voice of San Diego regarding Seiler and all these points you make as well as other well documented sources like the North County Times my comments are censored. They dont censor any of my other comments, but they will not print a word about Seiler. I dont know if they are afraid of being sued or what but its ridiculous because people really need this info and I have been trying like crazy to get the word out.

But once again people will just wake up tomorrow and say “oh well, Roberts and Horn won again….I guess people must really like them” rather than saying “OK enough is enough, this is blatant voter fraud”.
