George’s N’er-Do-Well Son

It’s been brought to our attention that ole Ronny didn’t say this, but we’re still chucklin’ over it. So this is our retraction… consider it an early April Fools joke!

From an email this morning, “Too bad he didn’t get the job”

“A moment I’ve been dreading. George brought his n’er-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I’ll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they’ll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.” ~ Ronald Reagan, 1986

  1. I have this out on News Vine. That is a cool venue, I am starting to write some stuff there. I am also on CNN I REPORTS. This is all under my Winstons Drunk Poets name Old Hermit Dave.

  2. How did this happen? And don’t say ‘shit happens’ How did this happen, you, you, and you, and me? We allowed this imbicile … ugh, can’t even say his name. has an american president even been so hated? worst president ever. we definitely live in a oligarchy. Look that up, wingnuts!

  3. Apparently, Eddie has turned us onto a web site that asserts the quote is not true, that New Republic editor Michael Kinsley had written the words as he wondered why Reagan had mentioned him in the diaries. So, as the net has swarmed with this quote for the last several days, we did in fact fail to check our copy of Reagan’s diaries – as we burned it years ago. Just kiddin’ about the burning. Any way, our apologies to all who stopped by to enjoy the show. And thanks Eddie.

  4. Hey Carrie, at least you’re laughing and that was the whole point of the post!

We stood corrected and made that admission. We welcome discussion here but in the future we’d appreciate it if you didn’t come here stalking certain readers.
