A day after the strikes on Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president by elements of the U.S. military, I guess we can now relax over any concerns that our military men and women wouldn’t follow illegal orders. For, the invasion of a sovereign country and the illegal abduction of its leader without Congressional approval (or even notice) by our army and navy are clearly illegal and against the Constitution.
Apparently, our boys and girls wearing US uniforms didn’t stop their actions in this attack against US and international law.
What a sigh of relief.
It was not even two months ago that a squad of Democratic congresspeople produced a video distributed widely telling military and intelligence officers to “refuse illegal orders.” Which is the law. Here’s that video they made: a video .
The lawmakers, all of whom are veterans or had worked in the CIA did not urge any illegal actions. They include Democratic Senators Elissa Slotkin, of Michigan and Mark Kelly of Arizona, and House of Representatives members Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania, Maggie Goodlander of New Hampshire, Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania and Jason Crow of Colorado.
In their video, the Democratic lawmakers tell military members:
“We know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now. Americans trust their military but that trust is at risk.”
“This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens. Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this Constitution. Right now, the threats coming to our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad but from right here at home. Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders,” they added. “No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution.”
The video, posted to Facebook, also says “right now the threats of our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad but right here at home.” They added: “No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our Constitution.”
Do you recall that just days after they made the video, Trump on Nov. 20, accused the six Democratic-lawmakers of “seditious behavior,” called for them to “be arrested and put on trial” for behavior that, he said, could be “punishable by death.”

In response to their video, Trump responded on social network:
“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET,” the president wrote in one Truth Social post Thursday morning, linking to an article about the video from the Washington Examiner.
“This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???” Trump wrote in another post.
In a third, he wrote: “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”
Trump also reposted multiple posts from other Truth Social users about the video, including one that said, “Hang them George Washington would.” The president also reposted a series of comments from users on Truth Social, including posts that said the Democrats should be hanged, the actions were an insurrection and they should all be indicted because of the video.
Then later the White House walked back some of the very worst words that had ever come out of Trump’s head. Arrest, convict and execute Democratic Congressmembers. No where in our modern history has a sitting president uttered such incredibly damning and dangerous words.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Trump does not actually want to see members of Congress executed despite his social media post earlier in the day, calling a video by some members “seditious behavior, punishable by DEATH!”
We’re so safe now that we know our armed forces will refuse to not carry out illegal orders — that’s a double negative which means they will carry out illegal orders. I guess they didn’t agree that they “must refuse illegal orders.”
Maybe now Trump will lock up all those treasonous Democrats. Read what they advised:

Indeed, the major threats to the Constitution are coming from right here at home. Specifically 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C, One First Street, NE, Washington, D.C. 20543, and U.S. Capitol Building, First St SE, Washington, D.C. 20004. I guess it was too much to hope that the Pentagon might step up and refuse to enable this blatant sedition, but they are now compliant henchmen. They all need to be in prison, and I hope we will have newly elected leaders who will make that happen. Soon.
When you say “they all need to be in prison”, I’m sure that you aren’t speaking about all of the members of the armed forces. There are many, and I hope they are the majority of service members, who will refuse illegal orders. We saw this in Viet Nam and more recently when a general resigned his post rather than take orders from Trump. When push comes to shove, or when the military is called upon to shoot at American citizens, many will refuse and some may even shoot back. Right now, in Venezuela, the legal issues may be unclear to many service members, generals included, but when Trump orders military action against Americans at home, there may be more hesitation, and yes, some push back. I hope so.
Yeah John, maybe we’ll get lucky but then again, probably not the way things are looking.
You think the average low-education ‘volunteer’ is going to chance losing the government paycheck (Socialism), free health care (Socialism), and status of ‘hero’ (Propaganda), and face being thrown in military prison for disobeying orders and end up back where they came from in their poverty-stricken Red State trying to snag a Walmart job or cooking meth with their cousin?

Because what you worry about is what I think is coming. Bombing Venezuela and kidnapping their Socialist president and charging him with smuggling cocaine just after pardoning the right-wing dictator of Honduras for…smuggling 400 tons of cocaine into the US?

The trouble is that I’m afraid that the majority of LEOs are MAGA and will literally and gleefully do what they are told to do when it comes to people that are protesting the behavior of the Trump Regime government. We saw a lot of that during the Viet Nam war all over the country up to and including killings that nobody was ever charged with, and I personally saw some pretty nasty stuff the cops did while at peaceful anti-war protests with my step-mom up in her hometown of San Francisco and Berkeley when the cop riots started attacking people. They quite obviously enjoyed what they were doing.
Not as much at home in ‘military base’ San Diego’s anti-war protests; it was far more (shall we say?) heated in the Bay Area than here.

I think this article is pertinent to this thread. Horrifying at the implications since this is what DJT and his Fascist coterie of sycophants are trying to assemble, the same kind of assassination army.
He has the pardoned Jan. 6th traitors in his pocket along with every ICE-tapo agent under his thumb both of which absolutely LOVE the violence they get to commit on a daily basis.
And probably nearly every other ‘LEO’ of any kind in the country is what I’m guessing. Generals and Admirals are ‘retiring’ so only those that will do what they are told will remain. How does anybody think this is going to work out is beyond me because it certainly never has before in modern history.
