A Rag reader just recently noticed that the Blick Art Materials store in Little Italy (a large, two-story space at 1844 India Street) would be closing and relocating to the large space that was recently vacated by Joann Fabrics at 3633 Midway Drive in the Point Loma Plaza shopping center.
Blick will be opening on June 8th at that location in the Midway District.
Blick had announced they had intended to relocate to a space in North Park but the renovation of that building is moving more slowly than anticipated, so the company is opening a temporary location on Midway. But here’s the interesting part of the story: If the new location on Midway is successful, they’ll keep it open, in addition to the one in North Park.
The old Joann Fabrics store space is huge, but Blick is a nationwide company whose website offers nearly 100,000 products, so they’ll have no trouble filling it should they choose to do so.
