What Should Biden Do Now?

By Colleen O’Connor

In his last weeks as President, Biden has been offered several “To Do” lists before his term ends.

Major newspapers and networks have offered logical suggestions with detailed rationale.

Pardons, new legislation, drain the coffers and send the money to select states.  Get ready for mega demands on time and a flood of rationales for each move.

Let’s make it simple.  Do what Trump would, could, should and will do.  Follow his prescriptions.

The time to put out the “dumpster fires” is now.

Here are the easiest wins to guarantee a Biden legacy of note.  Copy Trump’s own handbook for pardoning all January 6 rioters.  And do it over Christmas holidays.  Gum it up in courts with delays, petitions, appeals, and more appeals.  Two years’ work should do.

1.       Pardon everyone on Trump’s Enemy list.  Extensive for sure.  Start with pardons for those on the January 6th committee, including their staff and investigators.  Trump & Co. have already threatened to investigate, jail, even suggesting execution of members of the press, the committee, various agencies, and the privatize the rest of government, such as the Post Office, etc.

And who’s on the list? At the very least, Trump has mentioned or threatened former Rep. Liz Cheney, Dr. Anthony Fauci, special counsel Jack Smith, Sen.-elect Adam Schiff, New York Attorney General Letitia James, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland; and New York Justice Arthur Engoron.

“Patel’s [enemies’ list] also includes former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr, Trump’s former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton, FBI Director Christopher Wray and 50 other members of the purported “deep state.” Not to mention that Trump has called journalists “enemies of the people” and Patel has said he wants to “come after” them.

Those not wishing a pardon, can be excused.

2.      Sign the “Equal Rights” for Women into law.  Easy.  Only requires a presidential phone call.  According to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) Biden can rescue his legacy by adding the century-old Equal Rights Amendment, which would explicitly guarantee sex equality, to the Constitution as a way to protect abortion rights in post-Roe America,” the New York Times reports.

Women have been waiting for this for centuries!

“President Biden could do it all, Gillibrand contends, with one phone call.”

“Both houses of Congress approved the amendment in 1972.  All that remains, she argues, is for Mr. Biden to direct the national archivist, who is responsible for the certification and publication of constitutional amendments, to publish the E.R.A. as the 28th Amendment.”

3.       Protect, preserve and increase the National Parks acreage before such treasures are sold off or looted (if they haven’t already been promised) to GOP doners and Elon Musk wannabes.  Save the millions of majestic acres (for now). Increase the Park Rangers’ salaries.

4.       Empty the coffers of all available funds to those agencies most in need (before Trump privatizes them).  Such as the Post Office, FEMA, Social Security, Medicare, Department of Education, etc. Fires, tornados (even in San Francisco) earthquakes, floods and hurricanes are guaranteed to increase.  Preempt the future misuse of these funds.  Spend now.

5.      Block any attempts by Trump’s medical “experts” to eliminate the polio vaccine, and possibly the measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, and flu vaccines.  Those not wanting these, can be excused.

6.      Employ “states’ rights” for protection.  Include those most vulnerable.  How can the Supreme Court and Trump’s GOP argue?  It is their new “Civil War.”

7.      “Combat pay” for doctors, nurses, and teachers, plus police officers and farmers.  Those on the front line of everyday battles.

8.      Honor the holy days.  Peace on Earth.

9.      Keep it simple.  Protect what Trump would destroy.  And do it fast.  Now.

10.  “Resistance” next year may be futile.

  1. Great thoughts….to amp it up, at every turn find a sympathetic federal judge to put stays on all onerous executive actions which can be fought in court until they can be enacted…..delay….delay….delay.  Keep Trumps’s state fraud guilty verdict sentencing a reality down the road.  Collect as much money from the Trump business empire per the outstanding judgement.  Make sure the electoral fraud perp’s fighting state charges end up in jail beyond the help of federal pardons.   Never give in……..however, cooperate within congress to pass those bills needed…..voters next go around will be watching.  Keep in mind why some voters deserted to the other side…..must remember we are by comparison “privileged” with college degrees and life experiences devoid of the trials many smaller communities suffered.  Otherwise, I wish all a merry Christmas to you and your families and continued good health in the months ahead.

  2. If these are so important and necessary, why were they not done by Biden over the last four years?

What did you Colleen O’Connor do to force these changes over the last 4 years?

Why didn’t you “resist” the Biden administration to force these changes?

I don’t know who Colleen O’Connor is, but she seems to like going back to the days of states’ rights, like during, before starting a new civil war.
