As the torrential winds
of Making America Great Again
die down
I hear music in my mind,
songs of change
that we’ve cried out for
during these times,
love songs
composed
by Harris and Walz
dedicated to building up the middle class,
to giving people more buying power
and more chances
to create intergenerational wealth;
sweet melodies
sung harmoniously
about racial equity
and affordable health and child care
and paid leave
about people expressing their freedom
by being neighborly,
jazz-like riffs
that lift
us above the non-life-affirming realities
the creator of MAGA
wants the nation to live by,
his mission
which is all about getting permission
to reign like a king,
doing whatever he pleases,
thanks to the highest court in the nation.
Oh, but is he ever singing off key
since, in my imagination,
it occurs to me
that what I’m hearing
are the sounds of
Making America Hopeful Again:
MAHA.
He can’t win
in a world of love songs.

You are always POSITIVE Ernie. We need more of that. It’s gonna be alright.
I was waiting for this one! MAHA! ?
Just when we needed them most!!! As always, you say it beautifully.
MAHA! RIGHT ON!
