Give Your Views on San Diego’s New Trash Service and Charges

The City of San Diego wants residents’ views on the new trash service and charges.

So, the city is holding an online meeting on Saturday, August 24, and an in-person meeting in Point Loma next week about implementing Measure B, which amends the People’s Ordinance to allow the City to begin charging for trash pickup from single family homes. Plus, they’ll be out at OB Farmers Market on that Wed. (See below)

  1. My view is this Elo-Rivera scam should be met with an equal reduction in my city taxes. No more charging for bins destroyed by city equipment. Vote Turner/ Hoskins.

  2. I’m curious as to how long does the city think it’ll take for all the available canyons will be filled with garbage and buried right up to the top before they start barging it out into the Pacific and just dumping it over the side like New York City does in the Atlantic? I’m surprised that hasn’t started happening already to be honest because all those canyons will be needed to enrich the wealthy developer types after they fill them full of houses and streets like what happened to University City in the early 70s that I saw from my father’s house on Haworth St. overlooking the canyons to the west.

Hell, our leaders don’t even have a clue how to deal with the enormous amount of radioactive nuclear waste to the point they are burying it in tsunami zones on the coast in ‘caskets!’ That too…is insane behavior!!

Not a real bright species at all, are we?

    1. We’re dialectical, dude! ON one hand we’re not all that bright, like you say, but as a species we did come up with some great ideas and efforts, like democracy, everyone’s equal, freedom, surfing ….

        1. and boy Vern, did I do enough of that back in the day or what? About 2 decades worth! I still get itchy bumps that extrude a pointed piece of fiberglass every once in a while that I have to literally pick out of my skin with tweezers. And I was careful, used paper suits to sand boards in and fully masked up etc etc.

And people thought covid masking was a pain. They had NO idea what masking-up was really like!

Yep Frank, we most certainly did, and still are, coming up with amazing ideas, and some of us put amazing efforts at trying to realize those dreams including results than were arrived at by logical rational arguments between peoples. But based on the number of absolute f&&k-ups and wars there have always been throughout written history I can’t honestly say that dialectical works very well with our species! We’re not really rational enough I guess…

  3. Just like the bike survey, the city just wants to know the most popular color of lipstick for the pig. Not that you wanted the pig to begin with.

    1. They put the D9 meeting at Mission Valley Library. Date and time didn’t work. Why a not more central location like Joan Kroc was mystifying. There is an online version that’s pretty vanilla, with one question asking if you were aware of measure B passing. All others dealt with your trash service.

      1. I went to the Point Loma meeting last night. I was told by a consultant that they are doing three of these meetings in each council district so you may have another opportunity to attend. That said, the “meeting” was no more than a physical representation of the on-line poll. You won’t get much more by attending but you can try to talk to consultants and city people.

  4. Sounds like the pier study. What would you like? And we’ll tell you the price later. Oh but we talked about fees when we asked if you were aware measure B passed.

When you didn’t have enough cans, you got an extra one and conformed to the current schedule.

Giving a view on the “new trash service and charges”? What’s new and what’s the charges?
