The Board of Directors of the OB Town Council is planning to hold a public meeting on Wednesday, February 28, but the location has still not been nailed down; it will either be in the auditorium of OB Elementary or at Waterfront Church. The meeting will be at the Park Point Loma Clubhouse at — 2390 Caminito Agrado.
Shelly Parks warns that “parking is limited, consider carpooling.” She advises that “Attendees will need to park along the street (Famosa) and walk into the housing community’s clubhouse.”
(The OBTC and the Rag will announce the location.)
In the meantime, the Board has new leadership, new president, vice-president and secretaries — yet struggles to maintain itself. The new president has already resigned from the Board. The Board itself is now down to about half-strength with only 9 members. This comes on the heels of the revelation of the scandal that has rocked the OBTC since its January public meeting, and the ouster of its former president, Corey Bruins.
New leadership — the executive committee — was determined and it was:
- Nathan Fleischlag as president — he has since resigned;
- Shelly Parks as vice president — presumably, she is now the interim, interim president;
- Jenny Brengelman remains as the new treasurer;
- Mandy Havlik is the new recording secretary;
- Gary Gartner is the new correspondence secretary.
As noted, if Shelly Parks was selected as vice-president, one of the roles of the VP is to take over in the absence of the president – therefore, she is now president. At least until the board has a meeting to determine if there is another leadership change. Shelly was one of the board members who took it upon themselves to force the board to do something about the scandal and situation that Bruins wrought.
The rest of the brave souls who remain as Board members are:
- Anna Firicano
- Kimberly Harrell
- Stephanie Kane
- Aaron Null
- Greg Winter

Try as I might I couldn’t get into the meeting online – via Zoom or their Facebook page. On Zoom I was waiting for the host to let me in, which never happened. It could have been me… – wondering if anyone else had difficulties. Looking forward to the article about what transpired. Thanks for doing that!
