What’s the deal? There appears to be yet another beach clean-up on Sunday Aug 25 organized by another bar. How many beach clean-ups can OB handle? Why couldn’t these guys coordinate their efforts? Pizza Port vs Kilowatt? Somebody please explain it to me.
The more the better in my view. The main beach itself probably doesn’t need a cleanup twice in two days. But the cliffs and seawall and parking area can often use a cleanup, and on the other side is the river path and robb field area.
I do my own informal cleanups on the river path and the Bacon entrance to Robb Field area about every 4-5 weeks. Takes me about 15 minutes to fill up a 30 gallon bag, which is all I can do since it takes up half my city garbage can.
I used to do the OB Entryway area about once a month too, but since it was mostly finished and paved the city has done a very good job of taking care of that area so it isn’t needed.
I’ve never done a group cleanup before though I have been meaning too. If there is a new group that meets later in the morning that makes it a lot easier. Showing up somewhere, even close by, at 8:30am on a weekend is… not easy.
