Ocean Water on Wednesday, Aug. 1 Hottest on Record at Scripps Pier: 78.6 Degrees

Scripps Pier recorded the highest ocean surface water temperature in its 102 history of taking measurements on Wednesday, August 1.

The water temperature was 78.6 degrees.

Usually the August average water surface temperature at the pier is 68 degrees, says the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration.

Scientists at Scripps have been taking daily measurements at the pier since 1916.

According to the Times of San Diego :

Scripps researchers said Thursday the record ocean warmth is consistent with similar records for high temperatures set on land as well as the rise in extreme weather events in 2018. They said records will become easier to break as global warming continues.

“Like other climate change trends, background warming enhances the probability and magnitude of extreme events,” said Scripps oceanographer and Shore Stations principal investigator Reinhard Flick.

  1. What they didn’t say is that this is going to get worse every year for the rest of your life. What they didn’t say is that we are living in a Pliocene Era atmosphere of 3 million years ago with CO2 levels at 410 PPM. Ah never mind nobody ever listened to Cassandra anyway.

Watch more tv and pretend the corporate news actually says anything intelligent or truthful. Pretend the most dangerous and deadly self-caused event in the history of our species isn’t happening…unless of course the psychotics that rule the world lob nuclear weapons over the resource wars they have going (mostly over fossil fuel). Then there won’t be any Global Warming. Nuclear Winter is the direct opposite but those of us left alive won’t like it much, either.

Science doesn’t care how we feel. Physics 101, folks, that’s all this is.
