Rep. Duncan D. Hunter, R-Alpine, and his wife, Margaret, were indicted Tuesday for allegedly misusing hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds and filing false campaign finance records.

Hunter and his wife were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that they allegedly used more than $250,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses, including multiple family vacations, school tuition, dental bills, theater tickets, and domestic and international travel for almost a dozen relatives. The indictment also accuses them of filing false campaign finance records with the Federal Election Commission.

A 48-page indictment details “scores of instances” between 2009 and 2016 in which the couple used campaign funds to pay for “personal expenses that they could not otherwise afford,” according to federal prosecutors. Other personal expenses the pair allegedly funded with campaign funds include fast food, movie tickets, golf outings, video games, coffee, groceries, home utilities and expensive meals.

Pretty lengthy indictment. But what’s read!
He should resign asap.
They purposefully bought their personal clothing items at golf courses so that they could falsely claim the expenses were in support of “balls for the wounded warriors.”
What a pig.

from today’s LA Times:

During the family trip to Italy in 2015, Hunter tried to set up a day tour of a U.S. naval facility there to justify the use of campaign funds, the indictment said. Navy officials said they could offer a tour only on a certain day.
“Tell the Navy to go fuck themselves,” he told his chief of staff. No tour occurred.

Mrs Duncan Hunter on buying shoes at Dick’s Sporting Goods… “told the campaign treasurer that the purchase was for an annual dove hunting event involving wounded warriors”. She allegedly spent $152 on makeup at Nordstrom’s, and told the campaign the money was used for “gift basket items for the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Diego.” Talk about disrespect. Stands out even in the current public money feeding frenzy and climate of corruption in the Republican-controlled executive/house/senate.

Hunter allegedly told his campaign treasurer that campaign finance laws were “silly”. Not hard to see how he got on the bandwagon for 45 with morals like that.

I cannot express in words how much pleasure it gave me to see how apoplectic, asshole Hunter senior was on the news last night screaming this was politically motivated. If it was so, it was borrowed from his party’s playbook. But, it wasn’t so, Junior is clearly an idiot. The whole world can now see what a rotten father Senior was on top of being a rotten politician. And frankly, I would not care if it was politically motivated. We MUST win back either the House or the Senate – both would be great – but we only need one to bring this train wreck of an administration to a halt. I don’t care how we get the votes but we all know we have to do this. It would be a stretch for a Democrat to win Hunter’s seat but wouldn’t that be an amazing signal? Halla f&*%ingluyah!

Dufus Hunter can’t be the only one in the county, much less the country doing this stuff. It’s a shame how, once caught, these slime-balls squirm and try to turn it back around on the rule of law and the checks and balances needed now more than ever.
