Murals add color and creativity to the walls of cities, so have some “pun” in the sun and check out some of these murals in around Ocean Beach and Point Loma (and a couple from San Diego).
If you have a love for pets and art, here is the mural for you. Good Dog Pet Outfitters is home to this “paw”-some painting of a corgi. This pet boutique sits and stays about a mile away from our PLNU campus. Take a break from your “ruff” schedule and go snap a few pictures with the pet at 3034 Cañon Street.
Many artists chose to think inside the box by creatively painting the utility boxes around San Diego. These public displays of art are easily noticed when walking or driving around in San Diego.
This utility box resides on the corner of Catalina Blvd. and Chatsworth Blvd., giving the most valuable directions you’ll need when in San Diego: to beach or to bay.
Facing the corner of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. and Newport Ave. are more of these painted utility boxes. Ocean Beach is full of creative public art for people to observe. Most of the utility boxes in Ocean Beach are covered in artwork from different artists.
This mural is surfing looks on the corner of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. and Newport Ave. Ocean Beach has created an identity in the massive amounts of art in the area. This mural is a popular spot for visitors as its location is open from the main roads and says everything you were thinking without having to get the T-shirt.
You should “bee” aware of this lovely mural at 4873 Newport Ave. With bright, vibrant colors and a sunny blue sky, this painting is a must-see. Bring your honey and take some photos at this mural.
Don’t “leaf” San Diego before seeing this colorful wall on 1875 Cable St. This unusual painting of nature is an aesthetic made for the more creative green thumb. Branch-out to this mural on your way to Ocean Beach!
Drive by 1869 Cable St. in Ocean Beach to get a “peace” of this painted bus. This vintage Volkswagen sits outside an auto service company and gets attention from the public with bright colors and a message of love.
Wave at this utility box when passing 1858 Cable St. This cool-toned, painted wave is enough to make anyone ready for some surfing. Don’t get “tide” down, but instead go find this fun painted box.
And Outside OB …
This “mer”-mural is found at 2977 Upas St. It is painted on the side of Cardamom Café and is meant as a reminder of what will come from the pollution in the oceans. Go “sea” this beautiful painting in North Park.
Don’t fly by this vibrant piece of art at 3519 30th St. This mural sits on the side of 30th Street Coin Laundry in North Park. You’ll be sure to have a howling good time checking out this painting.
