$400 Needed to Make Switch
The OB Rag needs to change servers and we need some help from our readers and supporters.
Much as our associates over at San Diego Free Press did, we have found our present server – Arvixe – unresponsive and seemingly over-whelmed by their “success”. Tech support has become literally unavailable.
Upon checking, it turned out that they were swamped by hundreds of thousands of new customers and cracked. Plus they were hacked.
So, we have to move on, like SDFP to a new web host.
But it’s not cheap – especially with a website our size, with 8 years of files and archives. Patty estimates it will be about $400 for us to make the switch – which she will do herself, as she already has done for the SDFP.
As we have had to in the past, we have to lean on our readers and supporters.

Our friends at the Free Press report that the speed of their blogging has increased noticeably since the switch and there haven’t been any more glitches. We’re looking for the same. Please help out.

I can just imagine. Since Free Press changed their server, I’ve still not been able to raise their site. :-( (And all the others I look at regularly (some from as far away as Britain and Chile) are working just fine….)
Here’s hoping, whatever new server you choose, that the change won’t render your site unresponsive as well…I enjoy both, when I can find them!

Could a new server allow a “like” button for articles and comments?

When you do. And I know this to be a very difficult task. But can you change the Permalinks for each topic to reflect the topics title instead of random numbers and letters. Would be very beneficial to the site!
