There’s been a string of 4 armed holdups in Point Loma and Ocean Beach lately and police are looking for a suspect that fits the description given by victims. The stick-ups happened from September 19th to the 21st, where the armed suspect accosted people late at night or early in the mornings.
Even though the local TV media stated that all the robberies occurred in Ocean Beach, actually only one or two did – the rest were in parts of Point Loma. (Local mainstream media is constantly doing that – portraying crimes in OB that really occurred in other sections of the Peninsula.)
Here’s an accounting of the armed thefts:
- First holdup – Sept. 19: at 11:20 p.m. – a woman was sitting on a bench in the 2300 block of Famosa Blvd., when a man came up and demanded her property.
- No. 2 – Sept. 20 at around 3 a.m. (less than 4 hours after the first) – a male on a bicycle on the 1300 block of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. was confronted by the suspect who pushed him off the bike during the stickup.
- No. 3 – Sept. 21 at 1:50 a.m. a man walking in or near the park next to the 700 block of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. was confronted by 3 guys, one of them pointed a black semi-automatic handgun. Another punched him during the robbery.
- No. 4 – Sept. 21 – 15 to 25 minutes after No. 3 a. in the 2100 block of Catalina Boulevard, 2 guys were walking when they were stuck-up by a man with a gun, who then jumped into a white Ford escort – meaning at least 2 were involved – which then took off.
Police are looking for the main suspect who was described as Latino, early to mid 20s, around 5 feet 8, 160 to 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. In two of the stickups, he fled in a white early 1990s-model Ford Escort or similar vehicle.
There is a $1,000 reward for the main guy’s arrest. Call San Diego police’s western division at 619-692-4800 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.

It appears they prefer the freeway access near Nimitz. Everyone at Cat Lounge, Tiny’s and The Reunion should be weary this weekend until these guys are caught.
same guys???

Editor Dude – want to check it out?
Never reported until weeks after it happened. Screw you SDPD.
PD Division Captain said yesterday this guy has been arrested. What was amazing was the similarity between the sketch and suspect picture. Almost dead on. Unlike some inconsiderate *sshole here, I thank SDPD for a job well done.
Where is the notice from the SDPD that the guy is caught? Who is he?
Timely communication from SDPD is what the community expects and deserves.
