Teresa Mallory’s nephew Quinn Rogan receives surprise visit after saving lives in Afghanistan
The owner of an antique store in Ocean Beach has her nephew’s photo propped up in her consignment shop on Newport Avenue. The picture has her nephew, Quinn Rogan – wounded in Afghanistan when he blocked suicide bombers from attacking his base – along with the President – who made a surprise visit recently to him at Walter Reed Army hospital.
Rogan is credited for saving possibly hundreds of his fellow solders on December 2nd as he tried to stop up to 3 bombers in a vehicle gunning for his base. He helped block their attempt yet their explosives went off, throwing shrapnel at him.
Teresa Rogan Mallory told Channel 10News:
“He’s got shrapnel in his face and his eye. He has 50 stitches that go down from his forehead across his face. We’re all so proud of him.”
Rogan may lose the sight in his right eye.
President Obama told him that he was a hero and was very proud of him. Mallory said that her nephew told the President that he was just doing his job. The wounded 22 year old was impressed with his surprise visitor. He spoke to Channel 10 last Monday, the day before Christmas.
Teresa and her husband own Mallory’s consignment store at 4916 Newport Avenue. The Mallory family has been a strong and consistent name in OB antique shops, and they also own Mallory’s New Furniture at 4905 Newport Avenue, as well.

solders should be soldiers.
As opposed to soldiers should not be soldiers?
