There has been troubles at OB’s dog parks recently – there have been maulings and deaths of small dogs at both Dusty Rhodes Dog Park and at Dog Beach. In response, a community meeting is being held tonight, July 22nd, at the OB Recreation Center at 5:30pm. The Rec Center is at the corner of Santa Monica and Ebers.

  1. Dogs will be dogs. This has happened many times before and is one of the reasons that despite having my backyard directly adjacent to Dog Beach, in the 11 years I had my shepherd mix Bear (RIP) I never once took him out there. I know a few people whose dogs got Parvo and other diseases, running around that much dog doo….. hey if the intent is to let the animal run wild and free, well you can do that, and you’ll get it with all the negative effects the animal kingdom has to offer. “Shoulda got a bigger dog” sounds callous but reality is reality.
