Domestic Deployment Would Be First Time for Army

Beginning in October, the Army plans to station an active unit inside the United States for the first time to serve as an on-call federal response in times of emergency. The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent thirty-five of the last sixty months in Iraq, but now the unit is training for domestic operations. The unit will soon be under the day-to-day control of US Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command. The Army Times reports this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to Northern Command. The paper says the Army unit may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The soldiers are learning to use so-called nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals and crowds.

I do see this as a positive, although most of my Liberal friends view it as some type of “big brother” tactic. There is a military presence in countries like Israel and more and more countries of the so-called civilized world. It is a new day and age and local law enforcement finds tasks overwhelming and hands tied with political correctiveness. People have to understand, it takes “might” to defend a nation such as ours. If that might is turned upon the citizenry of our dear nation, then let’s examine why and for what reasons people feel they should be civily disobedient, not why authority has to react. If a person of authority orders you from an area, you deserve everything you asked for, if you don’t comply. Being in the wrong, in the wrong place and time does not give you the right to negotiate. I guess, I am foreseeing a problem in the near future. If you read between the lines, I question the mentality of dissidents that wiould take to rioting because their candidate lost an election. Have people with this way of dealing with situations, truly earned the right to vote? Now, I am sure I have opened a can of worms!
The people will KNOW, if their candidate loses the election, that it was once again rigged. They will be rightfully outraged, and if they’re bold enough to stand up for justice, will take to the streets. Is this still a democracy? It is? Then we have the right to gather and PEACEFULLY protest. Who wants a military police state? Be careful what you wish for.
