LONDON – Perhaps Christian Bale has seen too many of his outtakes. Just a day before the opening of the European premier of The Dark Knight, his mother and sister reported that he assaulted them in a London hotel. The Associated Press is reporting that the Batman star was taken into custody today – the 22nd – by London police after the report that the 34-year old Welsh star assaulted his family member Sunday, the 20th at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
London police stated, without naming the actor, that, “A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault.” By policy, British police do not name suspects before they are formally charged. We have to wonder whether Gary Oldman was part of the arrest team. “The Dark Knight”, also starring the late Heath Ledger as The Joker, made a whopping $158.4 million at the box office in its opening weekend in the U.S. last week.
