Fighting TDS in My Old Age

I’m definitely one of those folks
suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome,
as I’ve got TDS
to the bone
and it really showed
one day when I was sitting at home
and turned the TV on
just as congressman, Hakeem Jeffries, was asked
“Would you consider seeking an impeachment
for the president?”
and I sat waiting for a reply
such as
“Hell, yeah, can’t wait”
and got, instead,
“We haven’t
ruled anything in
and we haven’t
ruled anything out”
and I couldn’t help but wonder,
as I held back a scream,
“What the hell was that all about”?
and then the pundits
commenced to tout
Jeffrie’s response
as smart,
reasoning that an act of impeaching
a man who is, to me,
a bona fide lout
would be a distraction
from what the country should be about,
leaving me wondering
how many more days
like every single day
in the past decade and a few months
of my so-called Golden Years
am I going to have to wake up
with this overly arrogant,
completely reckless,
totally dishonest,
extremely corrupt,
amazingly opportunistic,
disgustingly chaotic,
naturally divisive
president’s antics
all up in my face?
It’s painful living in a country
sinking in disgrace.

And it flips my lid hearing
television personalities
and congress-folks
dismiss ideas of getting rid of him
with attitudes that say that doing so
is not a panacea,
but a self-defeating political fixation,
with all our issues
around inflation, high prices, and affordability –
because I believe that such matters can be tended to
at the same time
by making the case that he is
the major cause of our misery
and by highlighting
what will be done to bring about
the changes we need.

Such deeds
surely would cure
what ails me.

I was raised in a loving and alive home, in a black neighborhood filled with colorful characters in Tucson, Arizona. Such an environment gave me a hint that life has to be grabbed by the tail as tight as a pimple on a mosquito's butt. With no BS and a whole lot of love. So, from those days to now I get up every morning set on making the world a better place. On my good foot*, and I hope my writing reflects that. *an old black expression
