Pizza Port’s OB Beers Win 3 Gold Medals

Three of the Ocean Beach beers crafted by Pizza Port brewery won gold medals in this year’s competition in the annual Brewers Cup of California. Pizza Port also won a 4th gold medal from its Carlsbad location and two silver medals.

In total, six San Diego breweries brought home gold medals for their beers Wednesday in the competition’s fourth year. And all together, San Diego breweries won a total of 26 medals including 12 silver and five bronze.

Here are Pizza Port’s OB beers and its 1 Carlsbad beer:

  • Guillaume for “Belgian Session/Other Belgian Ale”
  • Paloma Sour for “Beliner Weisse”
  • OB La Di OB La Da for “Mild Ale”
  • (Carlsbad) – Apollyon for “Belgian Pale Strong/Tripel”

TapRoom Beer Company in North Park ranked second among locals with three silver medals and one bronze.

  • Black Plague Brewing (Oceanside) – Medusa for “Specialty Stout” category
  • Burgeon Beer Company (Carlsbad) – Clever Kiwi for “Session Beer”
  • Kilowatt Brewing Company (Kearny Mesa) – Brew for Ukraine for “Imperial Stout”
  • Smoking Cannon Brewery (Ramona) – Joslyn for “Chocolate Beer”
  • The Julian Beer Co. – Juniper Flats for “Historical Beer”

According to Brewers Cup of California, a gold medal winning beer is “a world-class beer that accurately exemplifies the specified style, displaying the proper balance of taste, aroma, and appearance.”This year’s competition included more than 1,300 entries from nearly 200 participating breweries.
