Mark your calendars! Two important events are occurring March 10, 2024. The start of Daylight Saving Time, and Ocean Beach Elementary’s 12th annual Skate for the Kids Fundraising Event.

The OBE PTA and Ocean Beach Surf and Skate Shop have partnered up to make this a family-friendly event to remember, with plenty of fun for kids and adults alike. Kicking off at Robb Field on Sunday, March 10th at 12pm, OBSS skating coaches will give local kids (Kindergarten through 5th grade) lessons for safe, fun skateboarding, adults can compete in a trick contest (don’t forget your ibuprofen, gramps), and local skate pros will show off their impressive skills –– all to promote healthy activities and raise money for a beloved elementary school.

It’s not all kick flips and ollies, of course. A much-anticipated raffle gives attendees the chance to win fantastic prizes, including gift cards from Cesarina, Phattie’s Bakery, Pizza Port, Northside Tavern, The Joint, Raglan Public House, Mike’s Taco Shop, and many more… and rumor has it one lucky winner will walk away with a brand new stand up paddle board from Isle SUP. All proceeds from the event and raffle go to funding enrichment programs and educational materials for the students and teachers of OBE.

Bring your appetite and dancing flip-flop, because parent volunteers will be grilling Hodad’s burgers and hotdogs, a DJ will be spinning tunes all afternoon, and Mr. Fruity will be slinging ice cold popsicles. All are welcome to this classically OB event, so bring friends and family! (Please note, all minors hoping to hone their board craft will need their parents to sign a liability waiver, which can be found here.)

Here’s to a day of sun (fingers crossed), fun, and supporting the a very cool school.
