OB Alley Walkabout

Ocean Beach alleys.

Stretching from the hill to the edge of the ocean.

Gritty concrete and dirt byways where we stash our trash and hide ugly utility poles.

In our alleys you’ll find kids playing on skate ramps or shooting hoops, yard sales, entrances to granny flats, old school garages, and converted sheds.

Usually the alley structures are funkier and with more character than the front house which proudly presents its public face to the street, trying to keep up with the Joneses.

People are less shy about painting murals, signs, and warnings in the alleys.

Repairs to damaged walls, gates, and the old classic car that you intend to get to some day don’t seem so urgent back in the alley.  Out of sight and out of mind.

Living the dream

We get it. Some people don’t clean up after their dogs. But what does poor Mr. Cactus have to do with it?

Alleys aren’t speedways or short cuts. Let’s all chill!
