The founder of a yoga empire was found dead inside his Point Loma home on Monday, December 12th, and police are investigating his death as a possible homicide.

Trevor Tice, 48, the founder of CorePower Yoga, was identified as the deceased man inside the multi-million dollar home on the 900 block of Cornish Drive in the Sunset Cliffs area.

Initially police officers went to Tice’s home as part of a welfare check around 12:30 p.m. and now, due to suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, homicide detectives are currently investigating the incident.

Neighbors of Tice told NBC 7 there has been a lot of activity at the house recently with people appearing to be doing work on the home, reportedly purchased in January 2016 for $3 million.

Tice founded CorePower Yoga in Denver, Colorado in 2002 and began with just a few studios, branching out to San Diego County where the company currently has 11 studios. Across the country the yoga empire now has more than 160 yoga studios. Local media stated that Tice had removed himself from the day-to-day operations of the business earlier in 2016.  Tice graduated with a degree in Business from the University of Colorado.

Students and co-workers are understandably in shock and deeply saddened. “Our community is grieving this tragic loss and honoring Trevor’s tremendous legacy,” CorePower Yoga spokesperson Christine Turner said.
