Great pictures, brings back a lot of memories. I wouldn’t really call theses caves secret, many of us in the early 60’s spent time surfing and wandering the small beaches and cliffs of the sunset area instead of going to school and found the caves for our selves. To bad about the rip-rap that was unloaded, I’m not sure how much good it did in many cases. I wish I was into taking pictures like Stephen Rowell back then, I didn’t graduate school because I spent way to much time on the beaches and cliffs of OB. The pictures you took are great.
Hey Allen, thanks for the kudos. Stephen Rowell is still around here and still taking photos. He usually can be found at the annual OB Historical Society photo contest. Like you, I used to surf these cliffs, but didn’t really visit the caves unless I lost my surfboard – we didn’t have leashes back then.

Thank you, Allen.
We know these caves aren’t really secret, but it’s fun to think so.
Hey Frank I have to tell you your story yesterday “Can Progressives Be Patriotic?” really moved me. I sent it to many of my friends.
