A couple hundred San Diegans took their Presidents’ Day holiday to protest the current president’s fake “national emergency.”

Rallying in front of the County Administration Building, speakers denounced Trump’s authoritarian move, that the southern border should not be considered a national emergency, and described other issues that were in more of a need to be addressed, such as climate crisis and gun violence.

The San Diego rally was organized by San Diego Indivisible and, and was one of dozens across the country.

A handful of counter-protesters arrived at some point and a number of them began interrupting the event with chants and arguing with the protesters.

From video of the rally, there can be seen literally a small group of counter-protesters, yet some media described this as “dueling rallies.” This was done no doubt to instill a sense of drama into the TV story – but just was not true. And it was stated by one channel “the groups briefly clashed” and “there were no reports of physical violence.”

There were not two competing rallies.
