There’s still lots of snow in San Diego’s mountains, as evidenced from this screen grab of the live cam at Mt. Laguna Lodge. Taken 11 am, Wed., Dec. 14, 2022.

This could mean a slower snow-melt and more water for the rest of the plants and animals of the county.

My ex and I bought the 100 yr old Cedar Cabin off Crestline Dr. on Palomar Mt in 1984, just past the little state or county park. Higher elevation than where the store & post office is/was.

There was a steep downhill dirt track connecting summer cabins than ran behind it, and for the next couple of years I had my own private snowboard run riding my brand new Burton Elite 150 swallowtail. Even had some of the younger OB surf rats who hung around my ding repair shop make the drive up to ride (and party on the deck behind the house), and have pictures to prove it! 4 foot dumps were not uncommon then but climate destabilization was really just starting to ramp up then. So this little amount of snow is considered rare now? Pitiful!

This old OB surfer kid is still digging out from the feet that covers this property from the last two weeks of dumping snowstorms hoping I can get stuff cleared before the next storm due to start sometime Sunday. My big Arien’s 13hp snow thrower threw both drive belts a week ago clearing another two foot dump from the house to the gate, and NAPA just received my order and one of the belts was the wrong one. Wish me luck because I’m going to need it! I’m too freaking old to use a shovel this much but post-holing knee deep to get the mail or making a track wide enough for a wheelbarrow of firewood to the house from the shed is killing me…
